Bowling – rules for beginners

So, you first came to a bowling center to have fun and roll balls along the path a little. After you are given special shoes, which you can’t do without, you can go out onto the track and start the game.

What is the meaning of this game? The player is given 10 attempts to knock down as much Kegel as possible at the end of the path. To get the best result, you need to try to get a little to the right or to the left of the central cap. Kitli in every attempt – Freime – can be no more than 2 throws of ball. If in this frame you knocked out all the Killi first throw, you can congratulate you, such a throw is called a strik (X) is indicated on the monitor). If KELLO remained on the path after the first throw, then you have another opportunity to knock them down with a second blow. If you knock them down, then you hit SPEA (on the monitor is indicated /) and closed the frame, which is also good for a beginner and will count when counting glasses. If, after the second blow, KELLOY remained on the path, then the frame is considered open, you are accrued less than points, and the attempt is considered realized and the following player makes a throw (in the event that you are not alone on the path).

As a rule, the name of the player producing a throw stands out on the monitor with color. Your goal is to knock down as much Kegel as possible at every throw and get as many glasses for 10 frames as possible for it. The game is finished after the last tenth frame was played.

Counting glasses
Many modern bowling centers have systems of automatic counting glasses that highlight the number of glasses on the video screen. The calculation of glasses is maintained by a computer, although these rules are quite simple, and you can consider points yourself.
Here, in short, these rules. If all the skills are not knocked out for 2 shots, the frame remains open and the number of points that the framework is estimated is equal to the number of kegel shot down in this frame. If all 10 kegel are knocked down in 2 strokes, the frame is considered closed, but in order to evaluate it in points, the player must throw in the next frame and the number of Kegel that he knocked out by the first throw is added to 10 segles of the previous one.

If the player produced a strik, i.e. He knocked everything with one first blow and closed the frame, then in order to evaluate it, you need to add the number of kegel, knocked out by the next 2 blows to 10 segles. For example, if the player knocked out 2 aspects in a row (made a dable), then to 20 points in the frame closed by the first strik, it is necessary to add the number of kegel shot down by a blow after the second fear. If there are 3 aspects in a row, then, accordingly, the first frame is estimated at 30 points. This is the maximum number of points that can be knocked out in one frame. Therefore, the maximum number of points that can be scheduled for 10 frames (by knocking out all the Stri) is 300. To estimate the number of points in the 10th frame (if all the skills are knocked down in it in 2 throws), you need to make an additional third throw. If in the 10th Freime the very first blow is struck by a striking, then it is necessary to produce two more shots to find out its price.

You can not stand behind the line of the beginning of the path. If this happens, then the player counts the foul (intercession) and the accrual of points is not made. If there are kegls on the path, the distance between which is greater than the diameter of the ball (this is simplified, in fact, this situation is determined somewhat differently), then you have a combination called Split. This is a difficult situation, it is very difficult to bring down such kegls, but maybe you will be lucky and you will succeed. Here, in short, and that’s it.

How to keep a ball
A standard ball with three holes is taken by the thumb, middle and ring fingers. The thumb is inserted into the hole all, and the middle and ring – only to the second phalanx (traditional capture). Bowling centers have a set of balls that are different in weight and differently drilled, since all people have different hands. As a rule, on the ball you can see the figure – this is the weight of the ball in pounds. Accordingly, the larger the figure, the heavier the ball. The maximum weight of the ball can reach 16 pounds (i.e. about 7.2 kg). You can choose the one that suits you from the Bowling Balls in stock. In this choice, be guided by your feelings when throwing.

Starting position
In the approach zone you can notice two rows of points. The first row is 15 feet from the foul line (fasting line), and the second-12 feet. These points will help you determine your starting position. Children need to stand closer to the foul line than adults, because their steps are smaller. In any case, it is advisable for a beginner to stand closer to the foul line. After acquiring some skills, you can move away. Do not stop the foul line. Your leg should stop at least in a feet from the line. The position with the legs placed nearby and with a slightly tilted in the body is considered good. This will give you a sense of free readiness, not tension. The ball must be held with your right hand (if the player is left -handed, then left) from below at the level between the waist and chest, and with the other hand only slightly support it.

The principle of pendulum and steps
If you take a rather heavy item – the same as a ball for bowling – and try to make an throwing movement with your hand from below, then notice that the movement itself gives rise to a driving force. This is the “Pendulum principle”. It forms the basis of good and consistent swing. It is better to use a ball that can be freely swinging back and forward. If, during the swing under the weight of the ball, your brush is bent or your shoulder drops, then it is too heavy for you. And if you feel that you can “throw” the ball, then it is too light.
Bowling beginners are encouraged to use the 4-step approach. Experienced players can add a fifth step. The bowler takes simple, walking steps in a normal heel-to-toe manner. Only the last step, which involves sliding, is different from the rest. The first step should be the shortest. The last step, since it involves sliding, should be the longest. Count 1-2-3-4 to keep up with the pace. Right-handers should start walking with the right foot, left-handers with the left.

Now about the position of the ball during the approach:
1 step – the ball goes forward,
2 step – the ball moves down,
3 step – the ball moves back,
4 step – the ball moves down.

If we consider each of the actions separately, then the swing of the ball and the steps are not so difficult physical exercises. But how you connect these movements will determine how successful the approach will be. It is necessary that all the accumulated energy of steps and swinging be transferred to the ball at the moment when you release it along the path. The ball should go as far back as possible on the third step. During the 4th step, the sliding leg and the arm swinging the ball move forward together. If you manage to correctly connect the steps and the swing of the ball, then you will achieve the desired effect.

ball throw
Each player's swing and gait is unique, as is their height, weight, or age. But what all good bowlers have in common when shooting is that before releasing, the ball passes the ankle of the skid foot about two inches from it. This position is ideal for throwing the ball in the desired direction. Good timing and proper throw result in a perfect combination of propulsion, body position and balance. In order for the ball to pass at the level of the ankle, you need to slightly bend the knee on the last step. What at first may seem like an awkward posture, then becomes quite ordinary. In this case, the body also leans forward at an angle of 15-20 degrees. For balance, the middle of the chest should be directly above the knee of the sliding leg. When approaching, the head remains motionless, the gaze is focused on the target. The free hand is laid aside a little and serves for balance. After the throw is completed, the player's arm is raised from the ball's release point to shoulder level or higher. The direction of the hand should be strictly forward, and not to the left or right. This movement improves swing function and helps to maintain better balance.

Target selection
Remember that in bowling, those who achieve good results never look at the pins! Aiming is much more convenient by looking at a certain point or arrow on the lane than at pins 60 feet away. At some distance from the foul line, you can see arrows that you need to aim at. There are seven such arrows. The middle one is located just in the center of the lane, in line with the first pin. The rest of the arrows are also aligned with their respective pins.If you learn how to handle arrows on you then with the finisher, which is described below, you will never have problems!

To make a strike, you need to hit the so-called pocket – between the pins? 1-3. To hit the ball in the pocket it must roll at an angle from right to left. When rebounding, you can achieve good results if you release the ball across the lane. When the pins are on the left side of the lane, the best starting position will be on the right – and vice versa. Practice hitting the spare using the principle of crossing the track. Take different skittles as a target. The starting position is different for each throw. You do not need to calculate any formulas, over time you yourself will be able to determine the point from which you need to move to finish off some pins and an arrow on the path through which the ball passes to play the spare. Of course, practice and experience will improve your results. There are many finishing systems, and if you are more serious about bowling, you will definitely learn about them (at least from other sections of our site).

Twisted ball
Sometimes, when you come to a bowling center, you can observe that on the next lane a bowling player is twisting the ball they are playing with, and the ball does not go straight, like yours, but in an arc. Many beginners try to make such a throw on their own, but they fail. Then numerous questions begin to the instructor working in the center.
Throwing a spin ball is a long story. First of all, the release of the ball affects the trajectory along which the ball will move. Then you can talk about the various balls produced today by numerous manufacturers. Well, it's best if you learn about it from a qualified coach who will tell you about the different playing styles and schools that exist today.
