The upper house of the Russian parliament reacted to international agreements. On Tuesday, February 22, members of the Federation Council ratified the treaties on friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance with the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics introduced by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The issue was discussed at an extraordinary meeting, the decision was met with applause. The day before, the documents were signed by Putin and the heads of the DNR and LNR, Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik. The agreements imply joint protection of the borders of the republics.

The upper house of the Russian parliament reacted to international agreements.

On Tuesday, February 22, members of the Federation Council ratified the treaties on friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance with the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics introduced by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The issue was discussed at an extraordinary meeting, the decision was met with applause.

The day before, the documents were signed by Putin and the heads of the DNR and LNR, Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik. The agreements imply joint protection of the borders of the republics.

The agreements will be valid from the moment of their publication and for 10 years.

Recall that today the State Duma of the Russian Federation also ratified the treaties of friendship and cooperation with the DPR and LPR.

In response to the recognition of the independence of the republics, US President Joe Biden banned all economic and financial relations between America and the Donbass. The British authorities have warned that a series of sanctions will follow from the United Kingdom.
