The International Biathlon Union (IBU) made a forecast for the state of the budget according to the results of the season-2020/21.

According to the IBU official website, the organization predicts a budget deficit of 2.8 million euros after the season-2020/21.

The release notes that the forecast for the deficit is associated with the pandemia of the coronavirus: a number of competitions were canceled because of it, and there was also a loss of several media rights. The pandemic will additionally require IBU to spend money on supporting the organizing committees of competitions, as well as testing biathlonists for coronavirus.

The initial version of the budget from IBU was surplus: the income was supposed to amount to 36.717 million euros, and the expenses – 36.693 million.

Recall that the Biathlon World Cup starts with a stage in the Finnish Contiolati, the competition will begin on November 28.
